Chicago Lock Company is a locks manufacturer company founded in the year 1933 that sold a tubular lock and marketed their locks under the registered trademark “Ace”, which is famous for providing greater security than other lock designs. The brand Ace has been the name of American household for more than 70 years. Tubular Ace locks, have sold millions in the market every since they are first introduced and are frequently used on vending and bill changing machines and in other maximum security uses such as burglar alarms.
The distinctive feature of the Ace locks and the feature that makes the locks attractive to the institutional and large scale commercial purchases is the secrecy and difficulty of reproduction associated with their keys. The Chicago lock company has a fixed policy that it will only sell a duplicate key for the registered series “Ace” lock to the owner of record of the lock and on request of purchase order, letterhead and some other identifying means of the actual recorded lock owner.
If the owner of the Chicago lock company’s lock, which is the “Ace”, loses his or her key, they may obtain a duplicate from the company itself. Alternatively, they can look for a proficient locksmith to fix the lock, where the locksmith will decipher the tumbler configuration and grind a duplicate tubular key. The latter procedure is quicker than the former procedure but it is way more costly. The locksmith however, will at best avoid the need to pick the lock each time a key is lost, record the key code along with the serial number of the customer’s lock.
Chicago Lock Company only allocated enough duplicate keys that have been made by locksmiths that substantial key code dates have been compiled. This step is taken to prevent too many duplicate key for that particular lock.
Chicago Lock Company has sold millions of “Ace” locks and the brand can be seen in general, even vending machine uses “Ace” locks. Chicago Lock Company was acquired in 1999 by CompX and its products are still being manufactured at its old plant.
Now, they manufacture more than 50,000 locks per day. As one the few ISO compliant lock manufacturers company in the world, their cabinet lock is classified as one of the best lock in the world.
